Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A tehsildar was booked for allegedly raping her partner on the pretext of marriage in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior. The victim complained that the accused had been sexually exploiting her for 17 years.

It was recently revealed that the accused is already married and has three more wives, following which she decided to file a complaint.

The accused has been identified as Tehsildar Shatrughan Singh Chauhan, posted in Bhitarwar Tehsil. After the complaint, Chauhan was removed and posted in the land revenue office.

Accused has three 'wives'

The 34-year-old victim, a resident of Bhind, submitted a written complaint to the Collector, SP, Mahila Police Station, on January 8. The complaint stated that she was a widow and came in contact with Chauhan through her late husband's brother in 2008. Chauhan promised her brother-in-law that she would marry his widow sister-in-law.

The complainant further said that the tehsildar sexually abused her for 17 years on fake promise of marriage. He even applied her vermillion (sindoor)-- a hindu ritual for a married couple and accepted her as his wife in the temple.

The victim, in her complaint, added that she was shocked to find out that Chauhan had three more wives and had been cheating on her for the past years.

Acting on the complaint, the collector removed Shatrughan Singh Chauhan from the post of Bhitarwar Tehsildar and posted him in the land revenue office. Earlier, too, a fourth-grade female employee had also accused Chauhan of sexual exploitation. Following which, Chauhan was removed from the City Centre Tehsil and posted to Bhitarwar Tehsil.
