Mumbai: A real estate businessman from Vikhroli received death threats and extortion demands from an unidentified caller invoking the names of underworld dons Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Shakeel, and Bishnoi. Initially demanding ₹3 crore and later reducing it to ₹1 crore, the case has led to an FIR being registered by the Parksite Police. The Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell is conducting a parallel investigation.

The 43-year-old complainant, a Vikhroli resident with connections to multiple Mumbai Police officials, stated that he has been in regular touch with several officers for over 15 years. According to his complaint, on October 17, 2024, he received a phone call from an unknown individual claiming to be Dawood calling from Dubai.

The caller later introduced himself as Chhota Shakeel, demanding ₹3 crore. "You are earning a lot these days; you must pay," the caller threatened in Hindi. When the complainant questioned his identity, the extortionist mentioned Bishnoi and lowered the demand to ₹1 crore.

The caller warned him against reporting to the police, stating, "I know you are an informer for the police," before disconnecting. Initially hesitant to inform authorities, the businessman decided to file a complaint after multiple threats in the names of the infamous criminals. Based on his account, Parksite Police registered a case under extortion-related charges. The Crime Branch is assisting local police in identifying the suspect. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the call and apprehend the culprit.
