Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Master Plan for Bhopal, being prepared by including nearby districts in it, will be christened as bigger Master Plan for the state capital. The districts, to be included in it, are Sehore, Vidisha and Raisen. A plan has been prepared and work on it will begin soon. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made the statement at a function held for PM Rural Awas Yojna in Vidisha on Wednesday.
A bigger plan is needed for the state capital, he said. Yadav also declared that Vidisha would be brought under the Municipal Corporation on the demand of Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who was also present at the event.
The issue of population has come in the way of bringing Vidisha under Municipal Corporation, but it will be done by combining the Panchayats of nearby areas. In the next local bodies’ elections, Vidisha will vote as part of Municipal Corporation. Both Yadav and Chouhan dedicated 3,932 houses to the public. Yadav said district hospital would be linked with the district hospital.
All the demands raised by the public representatives in Vidisha will be fulfilled, Yadav said. Chouhan announced allotment of 8.27 lakh houses for rural areas in the current financial year. A new survey is going to start, and each person will get a new concrete house, he said.
Long-awaited Master Plan
Bhopal Master Plan is long-awaited. The then chief minister Digvijaya Singh carried out the last Master Plan in 1995 and its validity ended in 2005. Afterwards, the issue swept under the carpet. In the past 20 years, the draft Master Plan was brought thrice, but it was put off. The CM’s announcement indicates that the Master Plan will soon be carried out according to the status of a metropolitan city.
