Actress Shilpa Shetty gained recognition after she starred in the 1993 film Baazigar, alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead, which marked her debut in the Hindi film industry. Since then, she has acted in several movies, including Dhadkan, Life in a... Metro, Rishtey, IndiaApne, and Mein Khiladi Tu Anari, among others. Despite gaining international recognition after winning Big Brother Season 5 in 2007, she has yet to venture into Hollywood.
Revealing the real reason, Shilpa told Hindustan Times that she does not think that she is so ambitious. "I am [simply] complacent, and I am enjoying this phase of my life. I have worked so hard and I am very content. So, I don’t think I can go and audition there (Hollywood)," she added.
Further, the 49-year-old actress said after being in the industry and working for 30 years, she does not have the patience to start her journey as a newcomer. She added, "If you want to see my talent, go and see my old films! And if you feel I fit the bill, then okay. I am not doing auditions for anyone!"
Shilpa shared that her family always comes first, and she can't be away from her kids for long periods, as she prioritised her family over her work commitments.
On the work front, Shilpa was last seen in Sukhee, which was released in theatres in 2023 and received mixed reviews. Directed by Sonal Joshi, the film also starred Amit Sadh, Dilnaz Irani, Kusha Kapila and Pavleen Gujra.
Next, the actress will be seen in the Kannada film KD-The Devil. The cast features Sanjay Dutt, Dhruva Sarja, Nora Fatehi, Reeshma Nanaiah, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind and Jisshu Sengupta.
Before starring in KD-The Devil, Shetty had also worked in several Kannada films, including the 1998 film Preethsod Thappa, Ravichandra's Ondagona Baa, and the 2005 film Auto Shankar.
