Pep Guardiola's elder daughter Maria has released an emotional interview in the wake of the news about parents divorce. Pep Guardiola and his wife Cristina ended their 30-year marriage back in December last year. In an interview to Vanityfare Spain, Maria spoke about the values installed by her parents in her and her two siblings,Marius and Valentina.

She said, "My parents have always advised me to find what I am passionate about. They encourage me to try new things, to accept failure and to keep searching until I find my calling, because when I do, full dedication will come naturally. They also remind me that the most important thing in life is to love and be loved. In the end it all comes down to feeling loved. Even in situations where we feel out of place, they tell me to listen carefully to others, there is always something valuable to learn from each person we meet.”

According to Dailymail, the long-distance relationship and Guardiola's workaholic nature have been revealed as one of the reasons behind the split between the couple. According got the publication a friend of Pep’s said, "I think the couple have drawn apart. She left Manchester about three years ago to return to Barcelona. That has taken its toll. He is a total workaholic and not being involved in their family fashion business together may have affected their relationship too."

Current status of Guardiola's relationship with his wife

The relationship between Guardiola and his wife is still "cordial, stable and friendly" despite deciding to part ways. They have been living apart for nearly five years after Cristina moved back to Barcelona to run her fashion company, Serra Claret. However, the family (including three kids) spent Christmas together despite the separation.
