Gwalior: In a shocking incident, a man shot his daughter dead just four days ahead of her wedding as she wanted to marry some other person, reported NDTV. The chilling incident took place in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior. The accused reportedly opened fire on her daughter in front of cops.

The 20-year-old deceased has been identified as Tanu Gurjar. She was murdered on Tuesday at around 9 pm in the Gola Ka Mandir area. Notably, hours before her killing, Tanu recorded a video and posted it on social media alleging that her family was forcing her to marry against her will. In the video, she also expressed a threat to his life from his father, Mahesh Gurjar, and other family members.

"I want to marry Vicky. My family initially agreed but later refused. They beat me daily and threaten to kill me. If something happens to me, my family will be responsible," Tanu stated in the video as reported by NDTV.

As per the media reports, Bikram alias Vicky is a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Agra and both were in relationship for six years. after the video went viral, cops rushed to Tanu's home to ensure her safety. A community panchayat was also present there.

Tanu refused to stay at her home and requested the police to take her to a One-Stop Centre. Notably, the One-Stop Centre is a government-run initiative aimed at supporting those affected by violence. The girl's father asked cops and panchayat members to allow him to talk to Tanu in private so that he could persuade her to stay back.

However, moments later Mahesh shot his daughter with a country-made pistol. Tanu's cousin Rahul also fired three shots at the girl resulting in her death. The police managed to nab Mahesh. However, Rahul fled from the spot.

The wedding was scheduled to take place on January 18. Pani grippe the area after the horrifying incident. The police have also seized the murder weapon from Mahesh. Meanwhile, efforts are on to nab Rahul.
