Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A youth tragically lost his life after a manjha (kite string) got stuck around his neck and slit his throat on Makar Sankranti in Indore. He was going on a bike with his relative when suddenly the manjha of a flying kite got entangled around his neck.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Himanshu Solanki.

According to information, Solanki was riding the bike with his relative as a pillion. The duo were going to collect LPG godown on Tuesday when the kite string got wrapped around and slit his neck.

He was then rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to MY Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

According to the police, Himanshu was a first-year student at Bherulal Patidar College in Mhow. He had been living on rent in Sudama Nagar’s Annapurna area for a year.

His father Sanjay Solanki works for a bank in Manawar, while his mother is employed in an Anganwadi. His younger brother is studying in 11th grade in Manawar.

Himanshu's relative, Vinod, also sustained an injury near his eye from the kite string. Both were initially taken to AVP Hospital before being moved to MY Hospital.

Chandan Nagar police confirmed that the incident occurred while the duo was traveling to get the gas cylinder.

Dwarkapuri police station in-charge Ashish Sapre said that the string involved in the incident was not a Chinese kite string but a regular one. The string has been seized, and it was shown to the family as part of the investigation.
