Delhi: The national capital has been experiencing cold wave conditions along with a dense layer of fog for the past few weeks. Visibility has dropped to zero as thick fog blankets the city. As a result, at least seven flights have been canceled, 184 flights have been delayed, and 26 trains have experienced delays on Thursday, January 15. This morning, Delhi recorded a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius.

The weather department has predicted that dense fog will continue into the evening and nighttime. The India Meteorological Office (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the dense fog. Additionally, light rainfall is expected in the city on Wednesday, January 16, 2025.

Train and flight services delayed

According to the Indian Railways, train and flight services are being significantly affected by dense fog. So far, 184 flights have been canceled. Additionally, 26 trains are running behind schedule, and the timings for six trains have been changed.

The visibility has dropped to zero, which has also slowed down road traffic in the city and surrounding areas. Today, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 19 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, the air quality in the city has declined to the 'very poor' category.

The city witnesses the sunrise at 7:16 am and it is likely to set at 6:47 pm. The humidity is expected to be around 75 per cent and the wind is likely to blow steadily from the northeast at 5 km/h. Due to the western disturbance, the temperature is likely to dip further in the coming days, as per the weather department.
