Raipur: The roof of a 7-storey under construction building ‘Avinash Elegance’ situated in capital city’s Raipur’s posh location VIP Road had collapsed on January 11, 2025 leading to tragic death of two workers meanwhile six of the labourers reported received serious injuries.
Telibandha police have registered a case of negligence against project manager Ajay Gautam, engineer Ved Prakash and contractor Nishant Sahu in the roof collapse incident. The building was constructed under the supervision of the trio.
The Police registered a case against Ajay Gautam, engineer Ved Prakash and contractor Nishant Sahu and others in the roof collapse incident under 125(A), 106 (1) BNS and initiated a probe into it.
It has been informed, around 10 labourers were engaged in designing work of the ceiling of the seventh floor and all of sudden some part of the roof cave in and all the labourers working in casting work fell down on the ground from a height of 90 feet.
Along with this, the centering plate and iron stand also fell. The labourers also get trapped in the rubble and debris of the collapsed ceiling. Two of them who died on the spot were identified as Rehmat Beg (Balodabazar) and Ramdas Pando.
Meanwhile other seriously injured were identified as Tejram Sahu, Kuleshwar, Komal Nirmalkar, Vishwajeet Netam, Hitesh Kumar. Some of these labourers were reported still critical. However, Anil Kumar, (a resident of Bhagalpur,Bihar) suffered head and leg injuries. However, the condition of Anil Kumar is reported to be normal and recovering fast.
After the incident, District Collector Gaurav Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Lal Ummed Singh reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
The District Collector Gaurav also informed that the injured laborers were admitted in VY Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, then SSP Lal Umed said, a thorough investigation will be carried out and none of the guilty will be spared.
Moreover, an eyewitness said that a part of the roof cave in while casting work was under progress. All the labourers from the seventh floor fell on the ground. He alleged that carelessness was maintained while centering plates were placed. He demanded an impartial probe in the case.
