Mumbai: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday released the revised schedule for University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) 2025 which were originally scheduled for January 15. According to the revised schedule, the January 15 exam will be conducted in two phases: January 21 and January 27.
Originally scheduled for January 15 and 16, NTA had on Monday announced the postponement of the test on January 15 citing multiple requests received by the agency to postpone the exam on account of festivals like Pongal, Makar Sankranti and other festivals on Wednesday. The test scheduled for January 16, however, was not postponed.
The computer-based test (CBT) is conducted to award the junior research fellowship (JRF) and for the appointment of professors and assistant professors. The test will also select candidates for admissions to 85 Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) courses this year.
As per the revised schedule, 17 subject exams that were supposed to be held on January 15 have now been divided between these two dates.
Exams for Malayalam, Urdu, Labour welfare/ Personnel Management/ Industrial Relations/ Labour and Social Welfare/ Human Resource Management, Criminology, Tribal and Regional Language/ Literature, Folk Literature, Konkani, Environmental Sciences papers which will be held on January 21.
On January 27, tests for Sanskrit, Mass Communication and Journalism, Japanese, Performing Art, Electronic Science, Women Studies, Law, Nepali papers will be conducted.
