Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic incident was reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur, where a 26-year-old college student allegedly ended her life by jumping off a building in the city on Sunday morning, the police said.

According to information, the incident occurred in a colony within the Civil Line police station area. Civil Line Police Station in-charge Valmiki Choube identified the deceased as Deeksha Gupta, a resident of Rath in Uttar Pradesh. 

She was living in a rented house and was pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from Chhatarpur’s Maharaja Chhatrasal University, the police informed.

Reasons unknown

It is said that Deeksha jumped from the third floor of the building. At the time of incident, her mother Indira Gupta was in the bathroom. Local residents immediately rushed her to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Dr. Abhay Singh from the District Hospital confirmed that Deeksha had already passed away when brought in. The exact reason for her extreme step is yet to be investigated, the police added.

Mother had come to visit Deeksha

Deeksha's mother shared that her daughter lived alone in Chhatarpur, and she had come to visit her at the time of the incident.
