Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A Scorpio driver abruptly swerved off the car after he spotted two tigers crossing the road in Bhopal's Neelabad area on Friday morning. As a result, he lost the control on the steering and ran over a calf.
The incident took place in the Chandanpura area of the city. The tigers were spotted on the main road leading towards Jagran Lakecity University. Forest officals and police have taken cognizance of the case.
Notably, this is not the first time where tigers were spotted near the university. Earlier too, students and visitors have witessed the big cats crossing the roads and wandering around the campus.
Police reach the spot
According to information, Chandanpura area is part of a designated tiger movement zone, home to over 22 tigers regularly traversing the area. On Friday morning, a black scorpio, going towards the Jagran Lakecity University, spotted two tigers crossing the road. To save the tigers, the driver of the car swerved off road and rammed into a calf in the process.
The impact of the hit was such that the calf died on the spot. Onlookers made attempts to contact the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) and forest department officials but they went unanswered. Finally, police arrived at the spot along with some forest department officials. Body of the deceased animal was sent for post mortem. Further investigation into the matter has begun.
