Meerut (UP): Five members of a family were found dead in their home in Meerut's Lisari Gate area on Thursday, sparking a chilling murder investigation. The victims include a man, his wife and their three daughters, all under 10 years old. While the couple’s bodies were found on the floor, the children’s bodies were discovered inside a bed box, with one child’s body stuffed in a sack, as per reports.
Police Shares Info On Horrifying Crime
Police revealed that all five victims sustained head injuries, likely inflicted with a heavy object. “The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem. Based on preliminary findings, it appears to be a case of murder linked to personal enmity. Senior officers are on-site, and the investigation is progressing rapidly,” said SSP Vipin Tada.
The gruesome scene came to light after neighbours grew concerned about the family’s absence since Wednesday evening. Noticing the house locked from the outside, they alerted the police. Officers entered the residence through the roof and uncovered the grim sight. Visuals showed the house in complete disarray, adding to the suspicions of foul play.
Local Residents Discovered Bodies Inside House
A local resident recounted the discovery and told the media, “The gate was locked from the outside. We initially entered by jumping over from the other side. When we couldn’t locate them, we broke the lock, turned on a torch and opened the bed box, where we found the children inside.”
SSP Tada informed the media that the house had been locked from the outside, hinting that the perpetrator intended to conceal the crime. Forensic teams are now combing the area for evidence and police are piecing together the circumstances leading to this horrifying incident.
