Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Mayor-in-Council member Jitu Yadav is in a precarious situation, particularly after chief minister Mohan Yadav described the attack on BJP corporator Kamlesh Kalra’s family members as “unfortunate” and directed the police to take strict action in the case.

Many BJP leaders believe that Yadav might lose his position in the MiC following the attack on Kalra’s family on January 4. Kalra had accused Yadav of the attack and threatened to quit the party and commit suicide with his family if justice was not delivered.

There was a backlash in the party against Yadav three days after a purported video of the incident surfaced wherein some people were shown stripping Kalra’s son and beating his wife. As the state party leadership did not take any action against Yadav five days after the incident, Kalra wrote a letter to the central leadership.

Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday posted a message on X describing the attack on Kalra’s family member as unfortunate and directed the police to take strict action in the matter. He also ordered for registering a case under the POCSO Act for stripping Kalra’s son.

Hours after the CM posted the message on social media, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav went to Kalra’s house in solidarity. Kalra made it clear to the Mayor that he would not accept anything less than Yadav’s termination from the party. On the other hand, Yadav said that he had no clue about the men who attacked Kalra’
