Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A Chinese-made drone found on the premises of Bhopal Central Jail has been traced to a doctor working at a nearby private medical college. Police have sent the drone to a forensic laboratory for further investigation.
The drone, which was found on Thursday, caused a stir within the jail administration and police. Commissioner of Police Harinarayanchari Mishra confirmed that a security inspection was carried out at the jail after the incident, and the drone was promptly sent for forensic analysis.
SP Rakesh Kumar said that Dr. Swapinal Jain, a professor at the private medical college, claimed ownership of the drone. According to Dr. Jain, the drone was a gift for his son, purchased from New Delhi on December 31.
The family had been flying the drone for the first time when it lost control and drifted into the jail's vicinity. Upon seeing a photo of the drone in newspaper the next morning, Dr. Jain contacted the jail administration to assert his claim.
The drone remains under investigation, and police are awaiting the lab report to determine the next course of action. Missing cops spark concern To ensure the security of Bhopal Central Jail, two companies of security personnel were initially deployed. Thereafter, both companies were assigned to oversee smooth conduct of Lok Sabha elections.
After the polls, while one company returned to regular duty at the jail, the other company failed to report back, leaving a gap in security. SP Rakesh Kumar had raised the issue with the Commissioner of Police, urging allocation of additional forces to secure the outer perimeter of the jail.
The authorities have decided to station security personnel in the jail's watchtower to strengthen outer security measures and safeguard the area effectively.
