Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A woman suffered deep gashes to the throat after kite-flying thread ( Chinesemanjha), cut her throat while she was riding pillion on a two-wheeler near Chhatripura police station, an official said on Thursday.
The sale of such thread is banned in Indore and the district administration is often taking action against the selling of it. But still, it is continuously being sold and resultantly these types of incidents are taking place.
The victim, Reena Verma, was going to Ranjeet Hanuman temple to offer prayers along with her husband Vikash Verma on a two-wheeler when the manjha got entangled around her neck.
Before they could stop the two-wheeler, the thread, often coated with particles of glass, had made deep wounds for which she received 20 stitches of which 10 were internal and 10 were external.
She said that she escaped death as if she sustained a major cut, she could have lost her life. She appealed to authorities to prohibit the selling of this Chinese manjha so that no one faces the pain she is suffering from and to prevent such mishaps in future.
Chhatripura police station in-charge KP Yadav said that police have registered a case against an unidentified person under relevant sections of BNS for an act endangering the life or personal safety of others and causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others. The victim is stable now and they will take action to curb the sale of Chinese manjha," he said.
