Mumbai: India's most wanted gangster and U.N.-designated global terrorist Dawood Ibrahim celebrated his 69th birthday in style in Karachi on Thursday. He threw a party in the evening, according to sources tracking him.
As reported by the FPJ on October 1, 2023 Dawood has been given the honorary rank of additional director-general of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in return for services rendered to the spy agency. It is learnt that the elite of the Pakistani armed forces, political and corporate establishments have been invited for the party. It is learnt that several businessmen, including some from India, have flown into Karachi from Dubai in their private jets to attend the event.
Son of a constable of Mumbai police, Dawood, a Konkani Muslim, is today a most-prized asset of the ISI, which fiercely defends him with several layers of security. Apart from his involvement in narcotics trade, in which several top level ISI officers are his partners, he is reported to be doing gun running and fake currency racket.
He has vast investments running into billions of U.S. dollars in legit business of real estate development, stock and commodities trading, gold, diamond and jewellery business. He has a major stake in the real estate industry in Mumbai.
Sources in Mumbai police said the D Gang is not active in the metropolis, but his "boys", including shooters, are very much there ready to spring into action at short notice. In the recent elections to the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra assembly, the gang is believed to have financed the campaigns of some of the candidates.
The Government of India has often talked about extraditing Dawood from Pakistan, but its efforts have been systematically stymied by Islamabad. A senior police official told FPJ on condition of anonymity "Forget getting Dawood from Pakistan, there is absolutely no political will to uproot his businesses within India. He is not a gangster anymore, but a terror leader. Yet no effort is being made to neutralise his assets in India."
