A horrific incident caught on CCTV shows a six-year-old boy miraculously surviving after being run over by a car in Naipada Village, Vasai East, on Wednesday morning. The child was playing near garbage mounds in an industrial area when the accident occurred.

The surveillance footage captures a white cab stopping near a gate, where one passenger exits from the rear while another moves to the front seat. The boy, who was crouching near a garbage mound, was struck by the vehicle as it turned. The car not only hit and dragged him but also ran over his torso with its rear wheel.

Despite the presence of two people in the vehicle, the driver didn't stop and fled the scene. Remarkably, the child managed to get up and walk toward other children who rushed to help him, though visibly in pain.

A local businessman who recognised one of the cab's passengers contacted the driver about the incident. While the driver initially denied involvement, he later agreed to cover the child's medical expenses after being shown the CCTV footage.

However, he subsequently switched off his phone and hasn't visited the injured boy in the hospital.

Police have registered a case against an unidentified person and are working to trace both the vehicle owner and the driver. "We are trying to identify the owner of the car and find out who was driving the vehicle," a police official stated. Meanwhile, the child continues to receive treatment at a local hospital.
