Filmmaker Karan Johar on Wednesday (December 25) announced 'Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri', a romantic comedy that will feature Kartik Aaryan in the lead role. The film will finally mark the maiden collaboration between Kartik and Karan. As per the announcement, the film will be directed by Sameer Vidwans, who earlier helmed Kartik and Kiara Advani's Satyaprem Ki Katha.
Earlier today, Karan took to his official Instagram handle to share a teaser of the project, which is scheduled to hit the theatres in 2026.
"Wrapped in romance, here comes the best Christmas gift ever from us to you! Starring Kartik Aaryan - 'Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri' is coming to cinemas in 2026. Directed by Sameer Vidwans," the filmmaker posted.
Karan will produce 'Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri' along with Adar Poonawalla and Apoorva Mehta.
In 2019, it was announced that Kartik and Karan would work together on Dostana 2, a sequel to the 2008 hit Dostana. However, two years later, the makers said they will be recasting for the movie amid rumours about differences between the producer and the actor.
Kartik and Karan's rumoured fallout
In one of his interviews, Kartik revealed the real reason why he quit Dostana 2, which also starred Janhvi Kapoor. The film reportedly went on floors before the COVID-19 lockdown in November 2019 and Kartik had also started the shoot in Chandigarh. However, several things did not pan out as planned.
According to several media reports, there was a fallout between Kartik and Karan that led to the actor's exit from the film.
Addressing the issue, Kartik said during his appearance on Aap Ki Adaalat, "This happens sometimes. I haven't spoken about this before. I believe in what my mother has taught me and these are my value too... when there's an altercation between two people, the younger one should never speak about it. Pandemic happened, there was a gap of 1.5 years and there were some pre-planned changes in the script which couldn't happen."
Reacting to rumours that he demanded more money for the film and when he was denied, he refused to go ahead with the movie, the actor said, "This is like Chinese whispers, a make belief story. I have never left a film because of money. I am very greedy, but in terms of script and not money."
Rumours about Kartik being unprofessional on the sets of Dostana 2 also did the rounds in 2021.
