"Scam-free New Year"
Meanwhile, another post shared by the city police asked people to beware of internet frauds and scams. They drew their attention and urged them to not share sensitive and important details with unknown entities.
“We wish you a Merry Christmas and a scam-free New Year”, the post read.
In the Instagram post, the Mumbai Police showed a screenshot of a conversation between a scammer and a person, where the prior was trying to extract information on the pretext of offering gifts.
If someone would have passed on their bank details and the OTP, they might have fallen prey to a fraud. So, the police team staged such a situation to spread awareness about scams and frauds, ensuring nobody falls for such traps.
"Ho ho ho...no no no"
“Want surprise gifts?” the scammer asked in the post. “Ho ho ho”, the user eagerly replied. Next, the scammer asked her details of the person, to which the aware user wrote, “No no no”.
