Mumbai: A 59-year-old man was killed in an accident in Sakinaka on December 21. The deceased, identified as Danmal Jain, was riding a two-wheeler on Khairani Road when a truck struck his vehicle from the truck's left side.

Jain fell under the truck’s rear wheel, sustaining fatal injuries. The truck driver fled the scene and has not been arrested yet. A police officer stated, "We traced the truck to Gujarat. We have contacted the truck owner and will arrest the driver soon."

According to the FIR, Jain, a resident of Girgaon, operated a stainless steel business. On December 21, he was heading to Sakinaka for business-related work. At around 2 pm, he started his journey on his two-wheeler from Girgaon.

While travelling on Khairani Road towards Ghatkopar, near Café Naaz Hotel in Sakinaka, a truck hit Jain’s two-wheeler from the truck's left side.

The impact caused him to fall and come under the truck’s rear wheel, resulting in severe head and body injuries. The truck driver did not stop and fled the scene.

A 22-year-old bystander, Chirag Sriwastav, transported Jain to nearby Paramount Hospital. Despite the doctor’s efforts, Jain was declared dead at 6.16 pm during treatment.

Jain’s son, Girish (31), filed a complaint with the Sakinaka police, who subsequently registered a case against the truck driver under sections 106 (1) (causing death by negligence), and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with the Motor Vehicle Act on December 22.
