Singer Shaan recently shared an update about a fire that broke out in his Bandra West building during the early hours of Tuesday (December 24). Taking to his official social media account, the singer described the incident as 'horrible' and expressed gratitude to the fire brigade officials for their swift response and timely action.

Shaan also shared how he and his family managed to escape the fire, assuring his followers that they are now safe.

"Dear all, as the news spreads about the fire in our building... just to let you all know that we are safe. Fire was on the 7th floor, we live on higher floors. We managed to escape to the 15th floor and waited to be rescued," he wrote on his Instagram story.

Shaan added, "To cut a long horrible story short... we are absolutely fine...waiting to go back home once there is a clearer picture from the fire department."

About the fire

The fire broke out in a flat on the seventh floor of Fortune Enclave, a 15-storey building on 14th Road, Bandra. The incident was reported to Mumbai Fire Brigade at 12:57 am, and it was declared a Level I fire by officials.

Nine individuals, including one male and eight females, were rescued from the 15th floor. Additionally, one woman was rescued from the second floor, and three others were safely brought down from the eighth floor.

During the rescue operation, an 80-year-old woman was found unconscious on the eighth floor. She was rescued by fire personnel and transported to Bhabha Hospital, Bandra. Her condition is now stable.

The fire was extinguished by 3:20 am, and the building was evacuated to ensure safety of the residents. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by authorities.
