Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The man in the eye of the storm Saurabh Sharma ruled the roost in the transport department for four years. This came to light after the raids, conducted by the Lokayukta's Special Police Establishment (SPE), on the residential premises of Sharma. After his recruitment to the post of constable in the transport department in 2016, he was initially attached to the headquarters.

Because he was close to the PA to transport commissioner, Satya Prakash Sharma, his influence in the department grew. Although the government was changed in March 2020, the functioning of the transport department did not change.

After August 2020, Saurabh became more powerful. According to sources, extortions at the check posts also began. Saurabh influenced some important people in the transport department and took over the responsibility of some check posts.

According to sources, it was Saurabh who used to decide who would be posted at the check posts. The officials posted at the check posts were just dummies. Saurabh and his team shook down the truck operators and shared the carrots among themselves.

Such the revelations came out during the interrogation of Saurabh’s close aid, Chetan Singh. According to sources, Saurabh ruled the roost at the check posts till June 2024.

Afterwards, these check posts were closed. Saurabh was so powerful that nobody dared to interfere in his affairs. Saurabh’s influence began to decline after the checkpoints were created. But he had links with the officers of the Transport Department afterwards.

Issue came up several times, even Gadkari wrote letter

The issue of extortions at the check posts of the Transport Department came up at the higher level several times. The Transport Association also complained about it. Fed up with extortions, the truck operators struck work, but the government did not stop this practice. Union minister Nitin Gadkari wrote a letter to the state government to stop extortions at the check posts, but his letter was not taken seriously. After receiving orders from the Central Government, the check posts were closed in June this year. But there are complaints of extortions from the checkpoints, too.

Dispute Over Transaction Of Carrots Blows The Lid Off Saurabh Case; Besides Lokayukta, Complaints Were Made To EOW And I-T Department

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Raids by the Special Police Establishment (SPE) of Lokayukta have blown the lid off many secrets. According to sources, Saurabh had a dispute with his cohorts over money. This was the reason why the complaints were sent to the investigating agencies.

According to sources, those with whom Saurabh entered into a contract for buying petrol pumps were making excuses for giving Rs 2 crore. So, Saurabh had a row with them.

According to sources, it was they who made a complaint to Lokayukta, I-T Department and EOW. Besides Lokayukta, other agencies were collecting information about Saurabh, but SPE of Lokayukta had conducted raids on the residential premises of the former constable of the Transport Department before any other agencies could do it.

According to sources, many other people were extorting money from the check posts along with Saurabh. They also had a dispute over distribution of money. Because of these disputes, Saurabh was making excuses in sharing backhander.
