Mumbai: The Shivaji Nagar police arrested two brothers for allegedly killing a 35-year-old Ola driver over a minor accident on December 21.
According to the police, Khan’s car collided with the motorcycle of one of the accused, injuring the accused’s mother. This led to an altercation. Later that evening, the intoxicated brothers Abdul Karil Shaikh alias Dadu and Mohammad Sharif Abbas Ali Shaikh alias Papa, both scrap dealers from Govandi, forcibly entered Khan’s residence in Shivaji Nagar around 10.45pm and stabbed him in the chest, stomach, and back, which resulted in his death.
The attack took place in front of Khan’s wife, Sabina Khan, who pleaded for mercy but was ignored. Sabina has demanded the accused be hanged.
Soon after the incident, Khan’s neighbour called the Mumbai Police Control Room (number 100) 16 times for help but received no response. Even after being informed, the police arrived half an hour later. The neighbour claimed timely intervention could have saved Khan’s life.
The police have registered a case under sections 103 (a) (punishment for murder), 332(a) (house-trespass to commit an offence), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act on Saturday. Both accused were initially absconding but were later arrested.
