Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh): Three members of a family lost their lives lost their lives after a fire engulfed their hut in Shivpuri on Saturday.
The three members included a 65-year-old grandfather and his two young granddaughters of five and seven year old, who lost their lives in a tragic hut fire in Lakshmipura village on Saturday night around 11 PM.
According to information, the burning roof collapsed on them while they were asleep. Neighbors alerted the fire brigade, and it took significant efforts to control the flames.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
The incident occurred in the Bairad police station area under Rasera Panchayat. Vasudev Banjara and his wife, Rukmani, were away in Dholpur attending a relative’s funeral, leaving their daughters—Anushka (7), Sandhya (5), and Jyoti (4)—with their grandfather, 65-year-old Hajari Banjara.
Hajari was sleeping in the hut with Sandhya and Anushka when the fire broke out.
Jyoti, who was on a separate cot, woke up and managed to escape. She immediately informed her uncle, Jitendra Banjara, who lived nearby.
Villagers tried to douse the flames using water from a pump. Police, an ambulance, and the fire brigade arrived quickly, but despite an hour of effort, the fire claimed the lives of Hajari, Sandhya, and Anushka, who were trapped inside.
The incident has left the community in grief as authorities investigate the cause of the fire.
