Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The city witnessed a drop in day temperature by three degrees Celsius in 24 hours, thanks to the change in wind pattern, on Saturday. However, the officials of regional meteorological department said that change is temporary. The weatherman forecast that the day and night temperature will continue to increase due to the back to back western disturbance affecting the northern part of the country.

The day temperature, which had increased to 29.5 degrees Celsius on December 20, dropped to 26 degrees Celsius on Saturday. However, the night temperature continued to increase as the night temperature remainedthree degrees Celsius above normal and was recorded at 13 degrees Celsius on Friday.

“Subtropical westerly jet stream with core winds of the order upto 240 kmph at 12.6 km above mean sea level continue to prevail over Northeast India.An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over south Rajasthan and neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level. Similarly, another fresh and active western disturbance is likely to affect western. Himalayan region and adjoining plains from December 27.The western disturbance as a trough in lower and middle tropospheric westerlies has moved away Northeastwards.”
