Bhopal/Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A man has been arrested for allegedly drugging and raping a 29-year-old woman in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior. The arrest took place on Saturday when the victim approached the police. On the basis of the victim's statement, police lodged an FIR and apprehended the accused.
The accused had befriended the victim on social media two years ago. After gaining the victim's trust, he requested to meet her. Therein, he spiked the victim's drink, took obscene photographs, and later raped her.
According to information, the woman, originally from Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, is divorced. The accused, Arun Solanki, is a resident of Sikandar Kampoo in Gwalior. After connecting on social media, the two exchanged numbers and began communicating regularly. Once Arun gained her trust, he invited her out on the pretext of going for a drive. During the outing, he offered her a cold drink laced with a sedative.
After consuming the drink, the victim lost consciousness. When she regained awareness, she found Arun sitting next to her. Arun claimed she had fallen asleep after drinking the beverage. However, he had secretly taken objectionable photos of her while she was unconscious.
The victim was blackmailed into going to a hotel.
Using these photos, Arun blackmailed the woman, forcing her to accompany him to a hotel, where he raped her. He continued to exploit her by using the photos as leverage. Tired of the blackmail, the victim finally approached the police on Saturday. On the basis of the victim's statements, police filed an FIR against the accused and apprehended him. Further investigation into the matter has begun.
