Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The cash seizure amount in the income tax raid exercise against three builders and a land dealer is rising with each passing day. The sleuths continued with the searches and on day three i.e. Friday, the cash seizure amount rose to over Rs 10 crores.

Meanwhile, the IT department is busy in connecting dots to gather more information about benami properties and investments of the builders. The search operation against all three builders Rajesh Sharma of Trishul Construction, Quality Builder and Ishaan Builder and also against land dealer Ramveer Sikarwar is likely to be completed by today or may stretch to Monday.

Sources in the IT department said that Quality Builder had hidden a CPU of a computer at an employee’s house. This CPU contains vital information about the investment and properties. On getting the air, IT officials recovered the CPU and are going through it to get more information about the group.

The incriminating documents have been also recovered from the premises of two other builders - Trishul Construction and Ishaan Builders. IT sleuths are going through them to unearth the benami properties and investments. The sleuths also come across a few lockers which stored ornaments which were more than the permissible limit.

The department officials believe that the tax evasion by the three builders and the land dealer is likely to run into crores of rupees. Only upon the completion of the ongoing searches will the full extent of tax evasion by the builders come to fore.

A total of 52 premises including 49 in Bhopal, two in Indore and one in Gwalior have been covered under the IT raid.
