Mumbai: The much-anticipated announcement on portfolio allocation is expected only after the ongoing winter session in Nagpur concludes on Saturday, say sources from the Mahayuti. The delay is reportedly deliberate to avoid any dissent while the state legislature is in session.
The Shiv Sena appears focused on securing the critical Home Department for Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Bharag Gogavale, a close aide of Shinde, expressed optimism, stating that the party hopes to secure the portfolio. “We hope the announcement of department allocations to cabinet members will be made soon,” he said.
The Sena is also vying for the Finance and Planning Department, though it is believed the Urban Development Department has already been promised to Shinde. Additionally, Shinde reportedly opposes the allocation of the Finance Department to Ajit Pawar, citing the Sena's earlier objections to Pawar's role during the MVA government.
Meanwhile, the BJP has reportedly declined to assign the Home and Finance Departments to Shiv Sena members.
