New Delhi: Government schools in Delhi will observe their winter vacation from January 1 to January 15, 2024, as announced by the Directorate of Education. However, students in Classes 9 to 12 will have a unique opportunity to strengthen their academic skills during this period through remedial classes aimed at bridging learning gaps.
To prepare students for upcoming exams, Classes 9 and 11 will focus on core subjects like English, mathematics, and science, while Classes 10 and 12 will revise critical pre-board topics and practice exam questions. These sessions are mandatory, and students are required to attend in proper school uniforms.
Through SMC meetings, student diaries, mass SMS capabilities, and other means, the department has requested that all schools notify students and their parents about these classes ahead of time during morning and evening assemblies. HoS is responsible for making sure every student shows up for these classes.
Schools have been instructed to organize the remedial classes with a structured timetable. Each session will last at least an hour, with both morning and evening shifts available. Principals must finalize and submit the schedules before the break begins.
Additionally, it said that remedial classes would be held in different school wings in the event that schools were doubly shifted. However, in the event of a space shortage, the head of school for evening shifts may confer with the relevant district and choose evening timings accordingly.
