Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A shocking incident was reported from a Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior, where a woman was allegedly set ablaze by her in-laws. She was admitted to the hospital in suspicious circumstances and her condition is said to be critical. The victim has sustained 90% burns.

According to information, the incident that occurred on Thursday evening pertains to Phoolpur village under Maharajpur police station limits in Gwalior. In her statement to the police, the woman accused her in-laws of harassment and of setting her on fire. 

The police have registered a criminal case against the in-laws and started an investigation.

Senior police officials take charge of matter

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Aarti Gurjar. She was admitted to a private hospital near Gola Ka Mandir late at night by her family in a critically burned state. She had suffered approximately 90% burns. The hospital administration immediately informed the local police station. The senior police officials have taken charge of the matter and started an investigation.

Superintendent of Police Dharamveer Singh, ASP Krishna Lalchandani, CSP Nagendra Singh, and forensic expert Akhilesh Bhargav visited the incident site for investigation. 

During interrogation, Aarti accused her mother-in-law, father-in-law, elder brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and other relatives of harassment and of pouring diesel on her before setting her on fire. 

Victim is mother of two children

The victim has been married for nine years and claimed harassment by her in-laws since the beginning. She is the mother of two children, aged 9 and 6.

The police are actively investigating the matter. The victim's condition remains critical.
