Due to the absence of safety equipment, a 19-year-old laborer lost his life after falling from the seventh floor of the elevator area while completing the POP work at a construction site under the Kondhwa jurisdiction.

The incident took place on November 24 at Pyramid Construction, Yewalewadi. A case was registered at Kondhwa Police Station on December 19, 2024.

According to the police, the victim, Soni Jadhaw, was a native of Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, and had been residing in a labor camp at the same locality for the last three years. Soni was working as a POP laborer at the construction site without any safety gear. On November 24, while working at night around 10 pm in the lift area, his foot slipped, and he fell from the seventh floor of the building, resulting in his instant death.

Speaking to Free Press Journal, Vinay Patankar, Senior Police Inspector (Kondhwa Police Station), said, "We have sent a notice to the contractor, Dinesh Kumar Dwivedi, regarding the matter and for not providing safety equipment to the laborers during working hours at the construction site. He will soon be arrested. At the time of the incident, the laborer was not provided with safety gear."

A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Indian Penal Code at Kondhwa Police Station.
