Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Congress MLAs continued protests at Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha against Union Home Minister Amit Shah's controversial remarks over Dr. BR Ambedkar on Friday.

The protest was led by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Umang Singhar. All the Congress legislators were dressed in blue and they gathered near Mahatma Gandhi's statue at the Assembly premises, raising the slogans “Ambedkar Ka Apman, Nahi Sahega Hindustan….(India will not tolerate Ambedkar's insult).”

Additionally, Congress leaders accused the BJP of targeting Rahul Gandhi with false allegations. Umang Singhar claimed that top BJP leaders had insulted Dr. BR. Ambedkar in Parliament and retaliated against Congress protests by filing false charges against Gandhi. "This is unacceptable," Singhar said.

"BJP does not want to talk about the insulting remarks against Ambedkar ji; this shows their anti-Dalit mentality. In Lok Sabha, BJP workers pushed our senior leader Kharge, and a false FIR is lodged against Rahul Gandhi ji. This is a failed attempt to suppress the voice of the country," Lop Singhar hit out during ongoing winter session in Madhya Pradesh assembly.

Notably, Shah during a debate in Rajya Sabha said, "Ab ek naya faishon aa gaya! Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar...Itna naam bhagwan ka lete toh swarg mil jata." (Sloganning Ambedkar has become a fashion these days. It's better to chant praises of God.)
