Former union minister and senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha in a social media post on Friday, saying, "Modi is a chicken when it comes to the so-called Gandhis."
He alleged that PM Modi blocked his attempts to declare through the courts that Rahul Gandhi is a UK citizen and therefore disqualified from being an Indian citizen.
"In return, the fake Gandhis abuse Modi but refuse to file a PIL to suspend him from the PM post," he said.
In another post, Swamy reacted to a query seeking netizens' views on Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister of India, saying, "With a British citizenship?"
He also claimed that Rahul's mother, Sonia Gandhi, had the support of all MPs to become PM, but based on his facts, President Dr Abdul Kalam declined to invite her to take the PM's chair.
"Boo hoo! Nor can his sister become PM. Modi can be blackmailed by foreign forces, but Bharat Mata still watches over Hindustan," he added.
A case pertaining to Rahul Gandhi's citizenship is pending in the Allahabad High Court. On Thursday, the High Court observed that the Union government is the competent authority to decide on matters related to citizenship.
According to Live Law, while hearing a plea filed by a BJP member from Karnataka seeking a CBI investigation into Rahul Gandhi's alleged citizenship, the court granted the Centre more time, until March 24, to submit details of the action taken in the case.
