Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Five persons were sentenced to 20 years imprisonment after being found guilty in a gang rape case. Indore district media cell in-charge Abhishek Jain informed that the Court special judge / eighth additional sessions judge Anita Singh sent five accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment after being convicted in a gang rape case.
The case was argued by district public prosecution officer Sanjeev Srivastava. The rape victim was a 24-year-old who had been married to a man five years back and together they had a 4-year-old son. After the victim got divorced four years ago, she started living with her son at her parent's house.
In 2020, she received messages on her WhatsApp from different numbers. She developed a friendship with this person. Later they argued and she blocked her number. On June 1, 2020, she received a call from the person who apologised and said he wanted to meet her at a place behind Aurobindo Hospital.
The next day when she reached the place, the person was there with four others. They pulled the victim inside the car and raped her. Then they allowed her to go. The victim somehow reached home and registered a complaint to the police who traced the accused and arrested them.
