Indore (Madhya Pradesh): After the implementation of PM Suryaghar Yojana, there has been a massive increase in the number of consumers producing electricity from solar energy in Malwa and Nimar.
As of the third week of December, electricity is being produced under the Rooftop Solar Net Meter Scheme at 22,500 places in 15 districts under the West Zone Electricity Distribution Company.
Out of these 12,300 are in Indore district. West Discom managing director Rajni Singh said that from February to the third week of December, more than 10,000 consumers availed of Roof Top Solar Net Meter Scheme. Out of this, more than 8,000 fell under PM Suryaghar Yojana.
She said that under PM Suryaghar Scheme, all the consumers installing solar panels at their places are getting subsidies directly through DBT in their bank accounts. Rajni Singh informed that eligible consumers get a maximum subsidy of Rs 78,000 under PM Suryaghar scheme.
In this, subsidy of Rs 30,000 is payable for one-kilowatt plant, Rs 60,000 for two-kilowatt plant and maximum Rs 78,000 for a three-kilowatt plant. In all, 22,500 consumers in the company region are producing electricity from solar. This includes 21,950 low-tension category and 550 high-tension category consumers.
The total electricity production capacity of consumers connected with rooftop solar meters has exceeded 205 megawatts. In all, 12,300 consumers have been connected with the scheme so far in Indore city, bypass, Super Corridor etc. areas.
There are 2,310 consumers in Ujjain district, 1,280 in Dewas district, 900 in Khargone district, and 895 consumers in Ratlam district who are producing electricity in their premises through solar panels.
