Bhopal/Sagar (Madhya Pradesh): A band of thieves broke into the house of a councillor and decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. The theft took place on Wednesday night when the residents were fast asleep.
The masked miscreants have been recorded on CCTV installed in the vicinity of the house. Police have taken cognisance of the matter, and an FIR has been registered. Efforts are underway to identify and nab the miscreants.
According to information, the robbery took place at the official residence of Dayanand Ward Councillor Savita Sahu, located in the Tilakganj area of the city. According to Savita’s husband, Jinesh Sahu, the thieves barged in through a window after breaking its iron grille. They locked the room door from inside, broke open the wardrobe, and stole cash worth Rs 15 lakh along with gold and silver jewellery.
Jinesh discovered the incident early Thursday morning when he found the room door locked from inside and the window grille broken. The wardrobe was ransacked. He immediately informed the police.
Police Investigation
Police arrived at the scene along with an FSL team and a dog squad. Evidence was collected from the site. During the search operation, the police dog led them to a hill near Emmanuel School, where the stolen bag was recovered. Binding tape from cash bundles was also found at the location.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas. Footage shows five suspects wearing half pants in the vicinity. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend them. An FIR has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
