BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a statement against Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha during the discussion on the Constitution on December 17. A strong resentment has been registered against his statement across the country. The Ambedkarwadi Atyachar Virodhak Kruti Samiti (AAVKS), along with various Ambedkarite organizations and political parties, condemned Shah's statement on Tuesday. The agitators beat an effigy of Amit Shah with footwear and tore up the statement he made. They demanded that Shah immediately render an unconditional apology.
It may be noted that Shah, during his speech on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, stated that praising Ambedkar has become a fashion these days. The agitators argued that Shah's statement was not only defamatory to Dr. Ambedkar but also to the entire nation and the Constitution. Dr. Ambedkar is not only the maker of the Constitution but also the savior of millions of people. RSS and like-minded organizations wanted religious scriptures instead of the Constitution in this country. But Dr. Ambedkar proved to be a barrier to their path, and they could not implement their agenda. Hence, they harbor such hatred for Dr. Ambedkar, which was evident in Shah's statement. The agitators also mentioned that it is not a fashion for Dalits, tribals, the deprived, minorities, and every Indian to take the name of Dr. Ambedkar, but it is their passion.
The agitators further warned that the insult of Dr. Ambedkar by any RSS leader or any leader in the future will not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, the activists of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) on Thursday burnt the effigies of union home minister Amit Shah and Rajya Sabha member Bhagwat Karad in front of Karad’s office at Kranti Chowk on Thursday. The agitators alleged that the home minister Shah made objectionable statement against Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at the Rajya Sabha during the discussion on constitution on December 17. At the same time, Karad, who was sitting behind Shah was laughing on his statement.
