Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Conmen targeted an MSc girl student and forwarded her morphed photos to her father and other relatives stating that the girl had borrowed money through their software and she was unable to repay the same so they are circulating her photos.
A case has been registered by police cyber helpdesk and a search is on for the accused. Additional DCP (zone-1) Alok Sharma said that the girl, resident of Azad Nagar, lodged a complaint with the cyber helpdesk of zone-1 that she had clicked on a link to a loan app on a social media platform five days ago.
On Wednesday, she received a call from the number starting from +92 and +94 and the caller said she had taken loans of Rs 3,746 and Rs 1,741 five days ago.
The caller told her to repay the loan and threatened that they would circulate her edited photos with her contacts as they had accessed her contact details and her phone’s photo gallery.
When the girl ignored the phone calls, the accused shared her edited photos with her father and other relatives with a message that the girl had taken loans from them. They would circulate photos to other contacts if she didn’t repay the loans.
Based on the contact details, the police are trying to reach the accused.
Police said that the girl had mistakenly clicked an unknown link due to which the conmen had accessed her mobile phone’s photo gallery and contact details.
