Mumbai: This year, Mumbai witnessed a decline in the number of drug-related operations compared to the previous year. However, Anti narcotic cell of Mumbai Police managed to seize a significantly larger quantity of drugs. Joint efforts by the police and the anti narcotic cell have dealt a severe blow to drug trafficking networks.

According to police sources, traffickers have been found transporting larger quantities of drugs this year. As a result, while the number of operations has decreased, the scale of seizures has increased due to large scale police bandobast deployed in this year.

Special task forces are actively dismantling trafficking networks, and investigations into drug-related activities are progressing rapidly. Officials credit the government and police's strict measures for achieving some level of control over drug trafficking in the city.

As of November 30 last year, a total of 1,313 cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 1,716 accused individuals.

Drugs worth ₹4,198,410,519 were seized, according to police reports. In comparison, this year, by November 30, a total of 1,060 cases have been registered, with 129 individuals arrested. The police successfully seized drugs worth ₹4,972,147,943 during this period.
