Ashok Kumar Misra, General Manager of Western Railway recently launched the ‘Namaste Health’ App at Churchgate Station Concourse. The Namaste Health app is a unique health platform which provides complete ecosystem for management of Health emergencies and uses instant Video Tele-consultations to connect a patient in distress to nearby doctors and hospitals who are able to help the patients immediately as to what is the best way forward. The app was launched in the presence of Dr. Anuradha Konda - Principal Chief Medical Director, Niraj Verma – Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai Central Division, senior railway officers and other distinguished guests and team of Namaste Health.

According to a press release issued by Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the Namaste Health is an app which addresses health emergencies by providing immediate medical consultation and is best suited to utilize the golden hour and the distress in the first few minutes after an emergency. Health emergencies come unannounced and come with challenges like determining the seriousness of the emergency, panic & anxiety redressal, reaching the correct hospital/ doctors, availability of ambulance etc. Additionally, lifesaving advice like how to give CPR, how to stop bleeding or what to do if the person has epilepsy or is unconscious etc. can be given at the earliest. This app is beneficial since connecting virtually is faster than any physical doctor attending the patient. Other Emergency services like Ambulance, Blood Bank, Second Opinion, Emergency Diagnostics, etc. also feature in the app.

Vineet further added that, every day there are many commuters who have minor to severe health issues while commuting. The Namaste Health app offers free emergency video connect for commuters at Mumbai Suburban railway stations from Churchgate to Virar, whether it is a minor problem or a major problem. The Namaste Health call- center staff is also available to guide the commuters. The pilot run of the app was carried out at Malad station where the app was found to be satisfactory. The services on the app has now been launched on suburban stations between Churchgate and Virar stations.
