Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav feted gold medal winners in state-level sports competitions at an event ‘Khel Pratibhayon ka Samman Aur Protsahan Samaroh’ at TT Nagar Stadium here on Wednesday. 

They sportspersons include Himanshu Kushwaha (weightlifting), Yuvraj Rao Dhadge  (Malkhamb), Dhruv Dubey (handball), Tilak Lot (softball), Ujjwal Kumar Prasad (judo), Anvi Khanduri  (swimming),  Shruti Pal (handball), Rahi Pathak (Taekwondo), Shreya Yadav  (judo)  and Khyati Pandey  (Pencak Silat).

Besides, incentive amount of Rs 25.38 crore was presented to 1,786 players in the ceremony. Sports scholarships and kits were also distributed to the players. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the state government stands with sportspersons at every step to encourage sports and players.

Sports have also been included in the curriculum in the new education policy. Avenues have been opened for promotions of sports teachers. In higher education, sports teachers can get promotions up to the level of assistant professor and beyond.

He said that incentives are being paid directly into the accounts of the players to help them fund their training. It will enable the players to bring glory to the state and the country by performing better, he said.  Yadav took a selfie with the players sitting in the gallery. Wheelchair-bound cricketer Shailendra Yadav also took a selfie with the chief minister.

Sports and youth welfare minister Vishvas Sarang presented a hockey stick to Yadav as a souvenir. The players of the medal winning hockey team of Paris Olympics-2024 have signed on the hockey stick. The sports and youth welfare department organised the event under Jan Kalyan Parv. 

Sports complex in each constituency:

Sarang Sports minister Vishvas Sarang said a sports complex will be set up in every assembly constituency. Sarang said that the chief minister has given his consent to the proposal to establish a government sports complex in every assembly constituency. The scheme will be given a concrete shape soon.
