Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar encouraged the players who were part of the Harris Shield final about their potential of playing for Mumbai and India.

"Those who played here whether you won or lost, the Harris Shield is a stepping stone for playing for Mumbai and India, so don't lose heart even if you have lost,'' Vengasarkar added.

He also felt inter-collegiate cricket was also important in the development of a cricketer and felt it ingrains mental toughness in players as they looked to climb the ladder.

Anjuman-I-Islam coach Kadir Patel was elated with his team's performance and them clinching the title when they had to defend 10 runs off the last over.

" My skipper Abdur Rehman, I had full trust in him as he bowls a stump-to-stump line. My fielders were also doing their job very well and the bowlers were excellent."

Patel was satisfied with the performance of the team and recollected their journey.

"I would like to thank the Anjuman management for appointing me as the coach. I did not know the boys and I had to make them practice in the school. I felt the boys had in them that they could perform really well looking at their ability.'

The skipper Abdur Rehman felt he was happy that he could repose the faith placed in him by the coach.

"The coach had that trust and confidence in me so I knew that I had to deliver come what may,'' he added.

"What was memorable was beating Swami Vivekanand, Borivali in an easy manner as we had lost to them earlier,'' he added.
