New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday addressed a press conference and issued his statement against the charges levelled by the Congress party against him of insulting Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar during his address on the last day of Parliament Winter session on Tuesday, December 17.

Amit Shah said, "Congress Party has distorted my remarks which is condemnable. Congress has always disrespected the Constitution and opposed Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Congress is Anti-Babasaheb and anti-Samvidhan party. Congress was against the values of Babasaheb Ambedkar."

He also said that Congress did not honour Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, however, PM Narendra Modi's government honoured Ambedkar. He also said that Congress distorted his statement and staged protest over it. He also said that He comes from a party which will never insult Babasaheb Ambedkar. BJP has always followed Ambedkar's principles.

He also urged the media to present the complete statement given by him in the Rajya Sabha. He claimed that everything will be clear when the entire statement comes in front of the people.

While speaking on the Constitution, Amit Shah allegedly made remarks against Babasaheb Ambedkar sparking outrage in the country. Protests are being held on large scale against the Home Minister for his remarks. Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge gave ultimatum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack Amit Shah by mid night.

Union Minister Amit Shah allegedly said in Rajya Sabha, “These days a new fashion is going on..Ambedkar..Ambedkar…Ambedkar, If they had taken God’s name this much, they would have reached heaven for the next 7 births.” Amit Shah is being criticised on social media and by the Opposition for his statement in the Rajya Sabha.

One of the users said, "From a Dalit's point of view, what did God gave them? Nothing but humiliation. It was Ambekar who gave them right to life with dignity. So yes, why wouldn't they take his name instead of God?"

In protest against the insult of Babasaheb Ambedkar by Amit Shah in the Parliament, Congress comrades under the leadership of Congress SC Department Chairman Rajesh Lilothia gheraoed the residence of Amit Shah and staged a strong protest.

Congress said in a tweet, "The people of this country do not accept the insult of Constitution maker Babasaheb Ambedkar. Amit Shah should apologize to the entire country for this act and resign from his post."
