As temperatures dip across India, several states have adjusted school timings, and many northern regions have even declared winter holidays. It's important to note that school winter vacation dates can change depending on how cold the weather gets, so they may be extended if the temperatures continue to drop or if a cold wave sets in.

Delhi School Winter Break

In Delhi, schools will be on winter break from January 1 to January 15, 2025. Additionally, schools will be closed on Christmas as well.

Punjab and Haryana School Holidays

In Punjab, schools will be closed from December 24 to December 31. Meanwhile, schools in Haryana, both government and private, will have winter vacations from January 1 to January 15.

Jammu and Kashmir Winter Vacation

For Jammu and Kashmir, schools up to Class 5 will remain closed until February. For students in Classes 6 to 12, the winter break began on December 16 and will last until February 28, 2025.

Rajasthan and Bihar Schools Closed

Rajasthan has announced school closures from December 25 to January 5. In Bihar, schools will remain closed between December 25 and December 31.

Maharashtra’s Weather Update

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a further dip in temperatures across Maharashtra, particularly in the central parts and Marathwada. The temperature in areas like Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada may continue to drop even further this week. However, no significant changes are expected in places like Mumbai, Konkan, Vidarbha, or North and South Maharashtra.

For example, in Madhya Maharashtra, temperatures have been below normal recently. As per a report by PTI, Ahilyanagar recorded a minimum temperature of 5.5°C, which is about 5.6°C lower than usual, while Pune saw a temperature of 7.8°C, 4.3°C below normal. Students should keep in touch with their schools for the latest updates regarding winter vacations.
