South superstar Vijay Sethupathi got irked after a journalist asked him about the box office failure of films like Thalapathy Vijay's GOAT and Suriya's Kanguva. The actor, who is busy with the promotions of Viduthalai Part 2, asked the journalist to focus on only his upcoming film.
A video of Vijay's interaction with The Great Andhra has been doing the rounds on social media in which he was asked about GOAT and Kanguva's poor performance in the Telugu-speaking states.
However, the actor refused to answer and lost his cool on the journalist. He look visibly irked by the question. "When I come for the promotion of my film, why should I talk about all this? Why should we talk about this?" he is heard saying in the now-viral video.
Opening up about why films fail to work, Sethupathi added, "If the film is good, people will watch it. It is not just in Tamil, it is everywhere. Be it a hit or a flop, people make films hoping they will succeed. Even now, before we release a film, we show it to people. Every film, even my flop films, is shown to audiences before release to gauge general opinion."
Box office collection of GOAT and Kanguva
Despite a lot of buzz of their releases, both the films failed to make a marki at the box office.
Kanguva, also starring Bobby Deol and Disha Patani, managed to collect only Rs 106 crore at the box office, globally. The fantasy action drama was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 350 crore.
On the other hand, Thalapathy Vijay's GOAT, which featured the actor in double roles, earned Rs 455 crore worldwide.
