Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A man allegedly attacked his wife with an axe after she asked for ghee to feed their 3-year-old daughter in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior on Wednesday.

The accused would often taunt her, asking if she had brought the ghee from her mayka (parents' house).

The incident took place in the Kishanbagh area under the Bahodapur police station limits.

According to information, the victim, Seema Shakya, alleged that her husband, Virendra Shakya was not happy with their daughter and desired a son. He would lock the ghee container and refused to share it with them, calling them a financial burden.

On the night of the attack, Virendra was eating bread with ghee. After the meal, he locked the ghee container.

When Seema asked for some ghee to feed their daughter, he became angry, verbally abused her, and struck her on the head with an axe, leaving her injured.

Seema, along with her daughter, approached the Superintendent of Police (SP) office to seek justice.

There, she claimed that the local police recorded her complaint inaccurately by stating that her husband used a stick instead of an axe.

She also accused her husband of frequently taunting her, saying, "Ghee Apne Maayke Se Layi Ho Kya?" (Did you bring the ghee from your parents' house).

The police have assured Seema of a thorough investigation and promised appropriate action against her husband. The case is under review.
