In Mumbai, a dog was made to dangerously travel on the roof of an autorickshaw. The vehicle was spotted in Juhu carrying the animal on its roof and posing safety concerns for the dog as well as other commuters. A video recorded a Pomeranian standing on the auto roof and being driven across the city in both day and night.
This incident was reported online days after a Bengaluru man was arrested for carrying three pet dogs on the roof of his car.
The recent case of the dog travelling on the roof of an auto in Mumbai was shared online by several animal lovers, demanding action against the driver of the three-wheeler.
The vehicle's registration number read "MH48 N309".

In the video, the Pomeranian was seen standing on the vehicle's roof in a risky manner when the driver started the vehicle and drove it on the busy streets of the city.
Initially, the visuals showed the dog made to travel in an unsafe way in broad daylight, followed by similar incident unfolding during a night drive. The second part of the viral video recorded the auto riding with the dog on its roof amidst traffic in the city.
Animal lovers demand police action
As the video widely circulated on social media, animal lovers raised concerns on the dog's safety. However, some also suggested the auto driver to have been unaware of the dog standing on the top of his vehicle.
Netizens, who watched the video and saw the dog undergoing a risky travel on busy roads of Mumbai, demanded police action in the matter. They tagged the handles of the Mumbai Police and PETA to look into the matter and facilitate necessary action.
"When will this stop? This isn’t the first time we’ve seen such negligence, whether it’s from the auto driver or the pet owner...Dogs are truly man’s best friend, yet they are not always treated with the care and respect they deserve", wrote the Instagram page 'Street Dogs of Bombay' while uploading the video of the incident online.

Reacting to the incident, animal rescuer and senior cop Sudhir Kudalkar said, "Pets are not for show off. These animals aren’t accessories or decorations; they are living beings who feel fear, pain, and love just like we do". "No leash or other safety measures, just a careless act that shocked me", he added.
Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar also reacted to the viral video of the dog being made to travel on the auto's roof. She called the act "Disgusting".
