Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Cold wave tightened its grip in the state on Tuesday as its impact was felt in Bhopal, Sehore, Vidisha, Shajapur, Umaria, Jabalpur, Mandla, Nowgong (Chhatarpur), Pachmarhi (Narmadapuram). The impact of severe cold prevailed in Shahdol, Seoni, according to meteorological department officials.

On Tuesday, shallow to moderate fog occurred in Gwalior district, Pachmarhi (Narmadapuram) and Raisen district. However, a gradual rise in temperature by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius is likely to occur in next four days, officials added.

Bhopal recorded day temperature of 27.6 degrees Celsius while its night temperature was 4 degrees Celsius. Indore recorded day temperature of 30.5 degrees Celsius while its night temperature was 10.6 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological department issued an alert for cold wave in Raisen, Narmadapuram, Vidisha, Sehore, Bhopal, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Shahdol, Umaria, Jabalpur, Seoni, Mandla, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari. Shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur at isolated places in Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena district.

A cyclonic circulation lies over north Rajasthan. As a result, north-west winds are blowing across the state. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region from December 18.
