The match between UP Brij Stars and MP Tigers in Big Cricket League 2024, was one to remember. The game, held at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat, featured a bizarre moment when Chirag Gandhi of UP Brij Stars, batting on 98, was nearly dismissed.
MP Tigers' bowler Pawan Negi hit the stumps, but the bails inexplicably stayed in place despite the stumps rattling. This unusual incident allowed Chirag to continue batting, and he eventually completed a magnificent century.
However, Chirag's brilliant knock wasn't enough to secure victory for UP Brij Stars. Despite his unbeaten 101 off 58 balls, the team fell short by 71 runs, losing the match to MP Tigers.
MP Tigers register comfortable win over UP Brij Stars
Earlier batting first MP Tigers set an imposing target by scoring 239/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Former India all-rounder Pawan Negi (87* from 38 balls) and Saket Sharma (101*) were the standout performers for Tigers.
With their aggressive batting both batsmen took attack to Brij Stars bowlers. Their onslaught, included 16 boundaries and nine sixes as they raced towards posting a huge total on board.
The UP Brij Stars struggled in their pursuit of 240 runs after losing two early wickets. Although Chirag Gandhi’s century and Aryan Kumar’s 42 provided some hope in terms of chasing the huge total. However despite their efforts the team only managed 168/5 in their 20 overs. MP Tigers’ bowlers, led by Faizal A, were in control throughout, with Amit Mishra, Stuart Binny, and Jatin Saxena each taking a wicket.
